Prayer of the Faithful
prepared by Jeremy and Natalie for their wedding day

For those whom Christ has called to serve His people as ministers of His sacraments, that they accept their vocation gladly and lead us all to a greater faith in Our Father Almighty, let us pray to the Lord.

For those whom Christ has called to serve His people as married couples, that they accept their call to marriage as a holy vocation, and that their love for each other may remind us all of God’s own love for us, let us pray to the Lord.

For those whom Christ has called to serve His people as leaders of government, that they may work to ensure peace throughout the world, even in the lands of their enemies, whom Christ has commanded them to forgive, let us pray to the Lord.

For those who are clothed in sin and for those who suffer the burdens of hatred, loneliness and despair, that God may open their hearts, give them hope and fill them with a yearning for His Kingdom, let us pray to the Lord.

For those who are sick or in pain, for those who struggle with addiction, for those who suffer through oppression, hunger and poverty, and for those without a voice, including the unborn children of the world, that God in his mercy may bring them salvation, let us pray to the Lord.

For every beast of the earth, every bird of the sky, and every fish of the sea, that we may faithfully rule over their lives as mercifully and faithfully as we ask God to rule over our own, let us pray to the Lord.

For all children, that the world they inherit from us be cleaner, safer and closer to God’s Kingdom for our having lived here, let us pray to the Lord.

For all these things, and those that we mention now in the silence of our hearts, (pause), that we may be as Christ to each other, let us pray to the Lord.

Amen.
